Piedmont Private Investigations was founded in 1999 by President and CEO Thomas M. Caune. Tom Caune has over 20 years of Law Enforcement, Loss Prevention and Investigative experience.
Education
Tom holds a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice and an A.A. degree in Police Science. Tom has attended nationally recognized investigative and interview and interrogation training. Tom is certified in interviewing and interrogation.
Experience
Working in law enforcement, loss prevention and investigations over the last 20 years, Tom has conducted thousands of interviews, interrogations and investigations. Tom is recognized by attorneys, corporations, insurance companies and private citizens as one of the leaders in the private investigations industry.
Tom began his career in law enforcement in Charlotte, NC. During his career in law enforcement Tom worked in an undercover investigative capacity. Tom also attended various police academies and in service trainings.
Tom returned to the private sector working in an executive position as a Loss Prevention Investigator for a major retailer. Tom was also assigned to research and recommend new and innovative CCTV and covert camera equipment. Tom received extensive training in conducting investigations in the private sector.
Tom later accepted the Director of Loss Prevention position at another company with multiple locations and over 500 employees. Tom built the Loss Prevention Department from the ground up, hiring Loss Prevention staff and undercover investigators. Tom implemented a comprehensive Loss Prevention and Investigative Program including writing Loss Prevention Policies and Procedures throughout the organization. Tom also implemented a very comprehensive background investigation program, checking the backgrounds of hundreds of newly hired employees each year. Tom has written and implemented Loss Prevention Training programs, internal audit programs and trained retail managers in preventing loss. Tom also designed, purchased and installed several hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of CCTV camera equipment in the various locations in the organization.
Philosophy
In 1999 Tom decided to form Piedmont Private Investigations. Over the past years Tom has developed PPI into one of the best private investigative firms in the country, hiring some of the finest investigators in their fields to help manage the firm. Tom is dedicated to customer service and goes the extra mile to ensure that his clients are treated with dignity and respect.
